Christmas is magical anywhere, but Sacramento adds a special flair to the holiday that is difficult to match. From the Theatre of Lights in Old Sacramento to the Christmas RiverTrain, Sacramento has some amazing events to offer residents throughout December. Below are a few of my favorite Christmastime activities in Sacramento:
Christmas concerts – Sacramento hosts a wide variety of Christmas musical events through December, from traditional caroling to the A Celtic Christmas performance at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church this year. These concerts showcase some of the areas most talented singers and choirs, perform​ in well known Christmas carols and more unusual song as well.
Christmas train - Every year the Sacramento RiverTrain decorates up for the holiday season. Join Morgan, a little girl who has lost her teddy bear, and her Christmas spirit, on a journey to rediscover both, and enjoy the performance, hot chocolate and cookies included in the trip.
Sacramento Santa Parade - Sacramento hosts its annual Santa parade on November 29 this year, kicking off the Christmas season with its fundraiser, supporting the Five Gold Rings 501 C3 organization to help Sacramento area children's arts programs.
Theatre of Lights – The Theatre of Lights is Old Sacramento's annual celebration of the city's history and the classic tale, "Twas The Night Before Christmas." The Theatre of Lights starts on November 26th with the annual tree lighting ceremony and goes through December 31, with performances, history lessons and tours of the city streets.
