3 holiday performances not to miss

The Sacramento Ballet's Nutcracker is just one of the great Christmas performances to attend this year.

Sacramento's Christmas season is filled with so many activities that it can be difficult to pick which ones to attend for fear of missing another. However, residents considering which festivities to go to should keep some of the area's best stage and musical performances in mind as well as tree lightings and parades.

Christmas is a magical time, and a few celebrations throughout Sacramento capture that magic perfectly. Some of my top recommendations are:

The Singing Christmas Tree – The 58th annual Singing Christmas Tree performance is entitled Christmas Radio Days, featuring a 40-piece orchestra, the Singing Christmas Tree choir, the Capital Children's Choir and a variety of actors. Hosted at the Capital Christian Center from December 5-7, there will be 5 performances of the two-act show.

Radio 94.7's Electric Christmas 2.0 – Radio 94.7 has announced Electric Christmas 2.0, at the Sleep Train Arena on December 10. Featuring Bush, Young the Giant, Fitz & the Tantrums and more, this concert offers an amazing Christmas-season treat for anyone age 18 or older.

The Sacramento Ballet's Nutcracker – The Sacramento Ballet's annual performance of The Nutcracker will be held from December 6-21 this year. The best known of the ballet's performances, this year's series of shows will feature more than 500 young dancers making their first foray into the performing arts.

These are just a few of the amazing Christmas events that Sacramento has to offer.
