Selling your home? Follow these tips to boost curb appeal

Giving your front door a fresh coat of paint is a great way to boost curb appeal.

There are plenty of houses for sale in Sacramento and the surrounding area right now, so if you want yours to stand out and sell quickly, you're going to need to pull out all the stops. As you prepare to put your home on the market, consider these tips for boosting curb appeal:

Clean your gutters – Depending on the season, gutters can begin to look pretty unattractive. Take some time to clear out any debris that has built up over the years so that your gutters are unclogged and functioning properly.

Dress up your front door – "Your home's front entry is the focal point of its curb appeal," states Better Homes and Gardens. "Make a statement by giving your front door a blast of color with paint or by installing a custom wood door. Clean off any dirty spots around the knob, and use metal polish on the door fixtures. Your entry should also reflect the home's interior, so choose a swag or a wreath that reflects your personal style."

Landscape your yard – Many prospective buyers look for properties with great yards for their kids to play in and their pets to run around in. If your grass is discolored and overgrown, chances are they're going to notice. The good news is you don't have to invest in expensive, professional-level landscaping to make a great impression. Just make sure your yard looks healthy before you place your house on the market.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your house gives off a great first impression. For more advice about selling your Sacramento, Placer or El Dorado County real estate, contact experienced real estate broker Jon Hesse today.
