Incentives impact housing market in big ways

Home sales have been impacted by the inclusion of incentives.

All across the country, potential buyers reenter the market during fall. While summer is a popular time for purchasing homes, autumn arrives and prices on seasonal and coastal properties tends to drop in accordance with the weather.

In addition to the decrease in home prices, many home builders and developers are also adding incentives to their listings to peak the interest of potential buyers. In Phoenix, Arizona, builders are offering inclusions of swimming pools, built-in barbeque pits and subsidized mortgages in order to sweeten the deal on new homes.

But Phoenix is not the only area to offer these types of extras to potential buyers. Areas like Orlando, Las Vegas and Sacramento have also seen an increase in these types of deals.

In Sacramento, new home sales dropped last month, which caused builders to discount finished homes in the area.

Much of the drop in home sales can be attributed to rising home prices in these areas, but now those same cities are finding unique ways to attract buyers to purchase.

According to Realtor Magazine, "Builders are beginning to discount homes and look for ways to boost sales. Orlando builders, for example, reportedly are advertising discounts and appliance packages, as well as offering to cover closing costs, after new-home sales dropped 19 percent year-over-year in June."
