The 17th Annual Sacramento Arts Festival will be held on November 7-9, featuring some of the nations best contemporary arts and craftspeople. Considered one of the premier art festivals in the country, is juried and exhibitors are selected based on the quality, originality and craftsmanship behind their work.
Forty-two painters, working in watercolors, oils, pastels and acrylics will be in attendance, as well as 25 ceramics workers, 18 woodworkers, 12 sculptors, 40 jewelers and many other craftspeople. Many artists will be selling their wares, and there will be music accompanying each day of the festival. The main stage will house several jazz and blues groups, as well as a troupe of comedy jugglers.
Nearly 15,000 originals works will be on display throughout the festival.
Due to its timing in early November, the arts festival makes an excellent opportunity for Christmas shopping for artistically-inclined loved ones, but it is also one of the city's premier cultural events, perfect for residents to see some of the country's up-and-coming artists, for a weekend date or a place to teach the kids about contemporary art.
In addition to the arts festival, November also holds the Sacramento Harvest Festival on November 21-23. This arts and craft show focuses more on purchasable items, including pottery, jewelry, toys, hard-carved wood and more. This show tours Nevada and California from September to December, bringing craftspeople to Sacramento just a few weeks after the city's local arts festival to fill the month with an impressive arts and crafts experience.
