A Placer County teen was recently honored as a winner of USA Today's "Making a Difference Day Award" for his work helping needy children.

Bailey Snow lives in Granite Bay, California, where he goes to high school and works at a local Starbucks. The 16-year-old also runs his own charity, called BrickDreams, which gives Legos to kids in need. Snow packages the donated Legos in empty tennis ball containers and distributes them to domestic violence groups, police departments and Boys and Girls Clubs.

According to USA Today, Snow says officials often hand out the Legos when they remove children from violent homes. At a time when everything feels like it is falling apart, the brightly colored building blocks give kids the chance to put something together.

BrickDreams was established in 2012. On April 15, 2014, Snow reported on his website that he'd collected an astonishing 514 pounds of Legos so far. Donations continue to come in regularly. One family reportedly mailed a donation all the way from Pennsylvania!

Leaders of the local Boys and Girls Club chapter say Snow's Legos are always a hit.

"[The kids] love anything to do with Legos," Development Manager Trudy Harris told USA Today. "And the cool thing about his Legos is he makes sure each one of the canisters has a little character in it for [them] to play with."

Placer County is a wonderful place to live, thanks in part to the incredible hard work of young people like Snow.
