Sacramento is home to a wide variety of festivals, three of which bring wearable art, music and African culture to the River City. Celebrate November in style at the Festival of New American Music, Art to Wear and More and Dancing Masks events throughout November.
Festival of New American Music – From November 7-16, Sacramento residents can attend concerts by some of the best contemporary classical musicians. Held at various venues across the city, this festival celebrates the new classical music tradition with free admission to all concerts. Sponsored by California State University – Sacramento, this year's concerts will include performances by Loadband, the Mana Quartet and more.
Art to Wear and More - Celebrating the wearable art community of northern California, this festival highlights clothing, jewelry and other accessories. "Clothing and Adornment for Body and Soul," every pieces on demonstration is for sale, and attendees will also be able to enjoy a fashion show exhibiting many of the pieces at the festival, as well as music by Surface-Tension at this year's event. Free to enter, the festival is the perfect way to spent Saturday and Sunday, November 8-9. This year, the festival is held at the Shepard Garden and Arts Center, 3330 Mckinley Blvd.
Dancing Masks – The Dancing Masks festival brings the traditional dancing and masks of West Africa to Sacramento for one day only on November 15. Hosted by the Fenix Drum and Dance Studio on 2110 Del Paso Blvd., this free event includes music and dancing from the region and authentic masks from the collection of Albertson and Julia Stagg.
