Haunted houses popular in Sacramento

Haunted houses make for great Halloween attractions, and Sacramento has plenty.

Halloween's most popular pastime, next to trick or treating, is visiting haunted houses. Sacramento boasts some impressive tours of haunted buildings, including the historic Sutter Fort and the annual Corbett's House of Horror. Residents can enjoy some frights and laughs at some of the areas best Halloween-themed attractions, with settings for children and adults alike.

Corbett's House of Horror – Considered one of best haunted houses in America, Corbett's House of Horror is hosted by Corbett Custom Construction, as featured on HGTV and DIYs Yard Crashers and Turf Wars. Attendees can visit the three attractions within, including the house itself, a Zombieland zombie apocalypse shootout and the Carn-Evil crazy clown maze.

Callson Manor – Run by a Hollywood filmmaker and an FX engineer, Callson Manor includes eight separate attractions to frighten and delight, including a ghost town, asylum and even a cafe where you can eat in fear.

The Haunted Fort - Sutter's Fort State Historic Park hosts a haunted "house" event every year at the historic military establishment. Once a major portal for pioneers traveling to the West Coast, Sutter's Haunted Fort explores the more grisly past of the area with a lantern-lit tour and tales of how some pioneers met their deaths at the fort.
