El Dorado County music lovers as well as residents from nearby Sacramento and Placer Counties are eagerly anticipating the 8th annual American River Music Festival, which includes more than 30 performances in the Lotus-Coloma area. The event is scheduled for the weekend of September 12.
Most performances will take place at the Main Stage at the riverfront Henningsen-Lotus Park, which will also boast food, drink, an art market and kid-friendly activities. Attendees are also invited to take a dip in a popular swimming hole on the river, so be sure to bring your bathing suit!
If you'd like to camp out at the festival and enjoy great music all weekend, choose from one of three beautiful riverfront campgrounds: American River Resort, Camp Lotus or Earthtrek. Each campground will also have featured musical performances, along with other area hotspots like Sierra Rizing, Gringo's Mexican Cafe, Marco's Cafe and Sierra Nevada House.
Dozens of musicians are slated to play, including The Bills, Whitewater Ramble, Greg Brown, Patchy Sanders, Tommy Malone of the Subdudes, The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, Laura Love and Big Bad Gina, Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines, The Parson Red Heads, Baskery and Rebecca Loebe.
