3 things to do in Sacramento in December for those that don’t celebrate Christmas

Sacramento holds something for everyone during December.

We have been focusing on Christmas celebrations lately on the blog, but Sacramento is a great place for those that don't celebrate Christmas to live as well. Through December there are plenty of fun events for those who prefer Chinese takeout and a movie on December 25, including:

Kwanzaa – The Crocker Art Museum will be hosting a Kwanzaa celebration on December 28, beginning at 2 p.m. The event will feature a multimedia piece inspired by Normal Rockwell's "The Problem We All Live With" by artist-in-residence Deborah Pittman.

Sacramento Freethinkers – On December 23, Sacramento Freethinkers, Atheists & Nonbelievers, as well as several other non-religious groups, will be hosting their annual HumanLight/Winter Solstice party at the Curtis Hall at the Sierra 2 Center for the Arts and Community. The event will include a raffle and a food drive to benefit the River City Food Bank and The Sacramento Pet Food Bank, a potluck dinner and a performance by the Mockingbirds. The event is free to all, and hosted from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Winter solstice - Ring in the shortest day of the year with The Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento on December 21. The Unitarian Universalists celebrate spiritual growth without focusing on any one specific religion, and the winter solstice celebration will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring a labyrinth walk, potluck and ceremony with guest speaker the Rev. Julie Interrante, who will tell stories, lead prayer and play the Native American flute.
