New-home sales in Sacramento increase from January to February

New-home sales in Sacramento increased from January to February.

As the U.S. housing market continues to recover following the Great Recession, it appears that real estate activity in Sacramento is looking relatively healthy. According to the Sacramento Business Journal, the North State Building Industry Association recently revealed that new-home sales in the Golden State capital have increased over the past few months. For example, in February there were 194 new properties sold in 79 communities, up from 165 properties sold in 75 communities in January.

Ioannis Kazanis, the association's building director, shared his comments on this recent data, admitting that new-home sales declined from February 2013 to February 2014, but noting that there's no reason to be discouraged by this drop.

"A year ago, the February new-home sales figure was 219, but Kazanis said he didn't see the year-over-year drop representing a significant difference," states the source. "With more areas building again, and building permits numbers increasing over the last three months of 2013, Kazanis said there's reason to think the overall trend is continuing positive."

As real estate activity in Sacramento and the surrounding area continues to improve and the busy spring home-shopping season gets underway, individuals who have been thinking about relocating to this area — or placing a property on the market — may want to get the process started sooner rather than later. Real estate conditions are favorable for both buyers and sellers, providing some great opportunities for Californians to take advantage of in the coming months.
