
If you're looking for something fun to do with the family this summer, head to Johnson Springview Park for free Friday night movies, hosted by the Rocklin Parks and Recreation Department. The series kicks off the evening of June 13 with the "Sizzlin' Summer Kickoff Party." The event will feature a sing-along version of the classic Grease. Food trucks and other vendors will sell food, drinks and fun items like glow sticks. Here are the dates for the rest of the series:
- June 27, Frozen: This blockbuster, Academy Award-winning film tells the story of Elsa and Anna, princesses of Arendelle. When Elsa's secret magical powers cause problems, Anna sets off on a quest to bring her sister home and save the kingdom.
- July 18, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971 version): When Charlie Bucket wins a trip to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, he can't believe his good fortune. But in his wildest dreams, Charlie couldn't begin to imagine what's in store.
- August 8, The Nut Job: Surly the Squirrel is set on helping his friends survive the winter, so he plans a daring heist of the town's biggest nut shop.
- August 15, Back to the Future: The first movie in one of Hollywood' most successful trilogies ever, this cult classic is sure to entertain parents and kids alike!
- October 18, Monsters University: This warm-hearted film tells the story of how two lovable monsters became unlikely friends.
