El Dorado Hills Town Center could see new apartments

El Dorado Hills Town Center could soon see a new apartment complex.

According to The Sacramento Business Journal, 250 apartments could be constructed at the El Dorado Hills Town Center shopping complex. The Town Center currently consists of retail stores, bars, restaurants, a movie theater, a hotel, a gym, a spa, a luxury car dealership, a public amphitheater and numerous professional offices. The apartments would reportedly be built around a parking garage and would average 900 square feet, with one to two bedrooms each.

The Stockton-based Spanos Corporation is proposing the project. Vice President Alex Economou told the Journal he estimates rent prices would be around $1,600 or $1,700 per unit, per month.

"What we think it appeals to is a renter by choice," he said. "This is for the young professional and the empty nester and everything in between."

Journal staff writer Ben van der Meer reports that the project would be one of the Sacramento area's largest multi-family projects in years. The developers say the Town Center's many uses could allow people to live, work and shop without ever getting in a car, resulting in a healthier and greener overall lifestyle. They also hope the development would spur job growth.

The county plans to address some public concerns about the project's possible impact on traffic patterns at a meeting on June 11, according to the Journal.

The Spanos Corporation developers seem to have realized something El Dorado residents have known for many years: This is an exceptionally wonderful place to live and call home.
